On 6th-08-2024, Arms of Destiny Foundation conducted a menstrual hygiene awareness session at a Paicho, Northern Uganda school. This initiative is part of our ongoing efforts to empower young girls with knowledge and resources to manage their menstrual health with dignity and confidence. The session aimed to educate students on menstrual hygiene, myths, and encourage open discussions about reproductive health.
Activities Conducted
Menstrual Hygiene Education: Our team provided comprehensive information on menstrual health, proper hygiene practices, and the importance of using safe sanitary products.
Myths & Stigma: The session included discussions on breaking societal taboos surrounding menstruation and fostering a supportive environment for girls.
Distribution of Sanitary Products: To support the students, our team distributed sanitary pads to ensure they have access to safe menstrual hygiene products.
Q&A Session: Students actively participated, sharing their experiences and concerns, which helped in making the session more interactive and impactful.
Impact
Reached 120 students, equipping them with essential knowledge on menstrual hygiene.
Provided 5 packs of sanitary pads to ensure girls can attend school without interruptions.
Fostered a culture of openness, allowing students to discuss menstrual health issues freely.
Future Plans
Arms of Destiny Foundation plans to expand this initiative to other schools across Northern Uganda. We seek partnerships, awareness campaigns, and funding to ensure more girls receive the support they need.
